Change in Course Sequence

Currently, non-honors, college-preparatory students take 9th-Grade Literature/Composition, American Literature/Composition, British Literature/Composition, and end with World Literature/Composition in the senior year.  Beginning with the Class of 2007, non-honors, college-preparatory KMHS students will take 9th-Grade Literature/Composition, 10th-Grade Literature/Composition, American Literature /Composition, and end with British Literature/Composition in the senior year.  KMHS adopted this change in order to provide more reading and composition training for tenth-grade students and because the 10th-grade curriculum also includes many selections from World Literature.

Summer Reading

Beginning with the summer of 2005, only students in honors and Advanced Placement English courses will be required to complete Summer Reading.  Although summer reading selections will not be required for other students, we strongly encourage all students to find and read books that they enjoy.
